We love Netflix's adaptation of the film Dear White People, but we're even more obsessed with the show within the show, Defamation. A loving but honest send-up of Scandal, the spoof is shown in the first and last episodes of the season. It is shady and wonderful. Here's everything you need to know about Defamation:
We're introduced to Defamation and we immediately know what's up.
The show is a pretty big deal on campus.
Defamation's lead character is a powerful black woman who loves her job.
And we love her.
Especially when she puts the president in his place: "I’m in love with my job, which is to get little bitch babies like you to act like grown-ass men when the world needs them to do their job."
But sometimes the balance of power shifts in cringeworthy ways.
On this show, things can get pretty ridiculous.
And our patience is seriously tested.
Coco sums it up perfectly: "The first few seasons were solid, but then it just went off the rails."
