5 Reasons We Love Watching: Empire

Let’s talk about Fox’s new Wednesday night show Empire. Empire stars Terrence Howard as Lucious Lyon: a hip-hop mogul who started from the bottom and made it to the top. Lucious and his company, Empire Entertainment, are on the verge of going public. The show also involves all sorts of family drama, business drama, past drama and basically any type of drama you can possibly imagine. The acting is over-the-top, the plot lines (while plausible) are ridiculous, and the writing seems like it was done by a bunch of highschool kids locked in a Starbucks blasting hip-hop for hours on end. That said, I can’t stop watching it (neither can a lot of people—it’s already been renewed for Season 2) and here are the reasons why:

5. Lucious' Clothes. He’s been known to wear ascots, floral scarves, half button down shirts, 90’s do-rags, oversized jeans, capes (yes, capes), and fresh suits:

4. The Family Feud. Some of the juiciest plots involve three of Lucious’ kids fighting for control of his company:

3. Hot Guest Stars. Naomi Campbell, Cuba Gooding Jr., and Macy Gray are just a few of the people who have already made appearances:

2. Cookie. Cookie is Lucious' ex-wife who comes back to get her some. She claims to have been the first ‘investor’ in Empire Entertainment (with from funds from drugs she used to sell!):

1. One Word: Music. The producers of this show stop at nothing to prove that at the end of the day Empire (the show, and the business) is about good music. They even hired world-renowned music producer Timbaland to provide some amazing beats:

Interesting sidereal, joining the pack I see. Personally, I watched the first two episodes of Empire and will watch no more. Can't think of a reason to continue watching. The show seems like a big, soap opera, with all the bells and whistles.Since I hate soap operas, bye, bye, Empire. The world, IMHO, does not need another Dallas. Especially one filled to the brim with cheap wine from the vineyards of Hollywood agenda.

It's a lucky thing that the rest of us love this show, I love a good soap and I did love Dallas. This show goes even beyond that, it brings the world of music into the picture and that opens it up to everyone, TV watchers and Music listeners alike. Now the story is fantastic, it keeps your interest and that's what we need. Then just look at the wardrobe, wow, someone is working overtime and it paid off big time, big stars coming on as guests, who doesn't like to see them? This show has it all, a great cast, a great story, a great wardrobe, great music, great guest stars, lots of mystery and suspense, it is a plus, plus, plus oh yes and the acting is first class, right up there with watching a great movie at the theater and Terrance is right up there too, he's great, and hot too.
