5 Reasons We Love Watching: 'Baskets'

Baskets tells the story of all-American clown Chip Baskets, a down-on-his-luck guy willing to sacrifice anything and everything for the sake of his clowning career. Only Zach Galifianakis could portray the idealism, ennui, and harsh reality of a man chasing his quirky American dream. Never before has a slapstick comedy been so hilariously endearing and full of heart. This show can best be described as a layman's artistic comedy. Baskets is both incredibly emotional and phenomenally brilliant. If you haven't seen it yet, here are five reasons you should start watching FX's best new(ish) show:

5. Louie Anderson won an Emmy for his amazingly nuanced portrayal of Christine Baskets, Chip's mother.

4. Watching someone fail is always hilarious.

3. Galifianakis also plays Chip's identical (and effeminate) brother Dale.

2. Costco is practically a character on this show.

1. And most importantly... Baskets finds the beauty in everything.

Baskets airs its second-season premiere Thursday, Jan. 19, at 10 p.m. on FX. Watch it!
