I am pleased to say I love this show which surprised me because I hated the movie. I only watched it because I liked Aaron Stanford in Nikita and I've been hooked ever since. I highly recommend!

I did watch the movie way back when released but luckily it was so long ago that this update is most welcome. It's just been announced that 12 Monkeys has already been renewed for another season. It's fresh and outlandish in its time travels and a likeable cast that grow on you from the outset. Recommended.

This show is tense and smart. The time travel is done superbly. The cast is strong. It is an ambitious show and the creators and crew have done a wonderful job. Science Fiction is one of my absolute favourite genres and this has captured it. It has been a while since I have truly sat down and been engrossed in a show where I've been left hanging for the next episode.

It doesn't suck, but I'm not going to die if I can't watch an episode.

EDIT: Okay, I just watched episode 11 and that was the best episode so far. I won't spoil it, but if you can manage to make it through episodes 1 through 10, then this episode is your reward. Again, if they cancel it tomorrow, I'm not going to die, but the show is finally worth watching now. I hope the last two episodes are the same, otherwise this show is getting cancelled.

It's always difficult for a TV series to be as good as a classic cult film. The original film starring Bruce Willis, Brad Pitt and Madeleine Stowe is an excellent example. Based on the idea behind the original short film La Jetée, this dark tale of time travel and human failure, 12 Monkeys is a film that can be watched again and again and still more layers are visible.

So now we come to the TV adaptation. It was necessary for the storyline to be tweaked somewhat from the film. The film is a tight, circular timeline that would be difficult to serialise unless in the form of a finite "mini-series" type format. Therefore, from the start there are differences and divergences from the original story.

Aaron Stanford and Amanda Schull play the main characters of Cole and Cassandra respectively. Right from the start both the script and the acting sets 12 Monkeys apart from other TV adaptations. There is a depth to the character development and thought given to how the story needs to be the same yet different from the original. Additional characters and a padding out of the back-story makes for satisfying viewing.

There is a lack of good pure sci-fi on TV at the moment. I have enjoyed the three episodes that have aired so far tremendously. If the standard is maintained, I can see 12 Monkeys being very successful and a joy to watch. I seriously hope this the first of many great seasons to come.

I’ll admit, I haven’t seen the 1995 movie, but I did watch the trailer. While Brad Pitt and Bruce Willis look top-notch, I don’t really feel that it’s a prerequisite for enjoying Syfy’s reimagining of “12 Monkeys.” In fact, I don’t plan to watch the movie because after the first episode I am too invested to risk ruining any of the plot twists for myself! I was hooked within the first few minutes of the pilot. This show is exciting and feels fresh (despite, of course, being a reimagining.) It is fast-paced, but breaks down enough of the plot early on so it’s easy to keep up with the dizzying concepts of time travel. This show blends the grittiness of dystopia and the magic of science fiction in the best way possible. I'll definitely be tuning in for the next episode - I can’t wait to see how this progresses!

This show is so completely mind bending that I often end up with a headache trying to figure out what the hell is going on but somehow I really don't mind this at all as it is really well executed by the writers and cast who make you really care about the characters.

The latest show on the block. Seems to be promising with a new story line similar to the movie 12 monkeys. So far so good with a gripping screenplay.

Only the pilot has aired so far, but I gotta say it was a pretty good pilot. It was intense, thrilling and had an air of mystery to it. Love the cast and i'm really excited to see how the show continues.

soooo i just came across this show a couple days ago and fell in love with it. i binged watched the first 2 season. and now i have a ton of ????? its like i understand and am lost at the same time

like how is cassie still pregnant if cole went back and killed the messanger?

so its like they said screw the plague. is it not a priority any more?

whats with the cycles everyone keeps talking about??

how many times has the same thing happened over and over again. ex (cole speaking to Jennifer he says i never said that to you, she says you haven't but you will wft????) like how many times have they had that conversation.

if the witness is their kid why is it trying to destroy the world or is it really even trying to destroy the world or is it something else? and if Cassie is the mom why let her die so many times

and whats with they way they never change things really they keep traveling through time just to end up where they don't want to be with the world still ending. none of the characters believes in fate but every-time they try to change something it takes them one step closer to the end, her giving birth to the witness ie. the end of the world. if that's not the definition of being fated i don't know what is

i need answers!!!!
