Absentia Episode 1: Comeback Takes Us Through a Glass, Darkly

The opening for Absentia episode 1 will haunt you for a long time. It literally and figuratively starts with a life-filled technicolored dream that falls into a dark and deadly nightmare reality. Those that saw the trailer knew that we would see FBI Special Agent Emily Byrne (Stana Katic) fighting for her life in a giant water tank. We also had seen the bright, color-saturated home movies of Emily with her dog, young son, and her husband, Special Agent Nick Durand (Patrick Heusinger). Nevertheless, seeing these things didn’t prepare one for the emotional punch in how they are used and edited together. READ MORE...

Absentia Season 1 Episode 10 Review: Original Sin

After nine installments of twists, turns, ups, downs, shocks and thrills that had those around me shooting me strange looks because they heard me gasping at my screen, it's finally time to for Absentia Season 1 Episode 10 ! Oh, what a ride it's been. It would be difficult to hyperbolize Stana Katic'sstunning performance as Emily Byrne. Katic carries this series and somehow manages to humanize Emily's relentless persistence and strength by balancing it with a unique vulnerability that makes us care for Emily without ever making her appear weak.   ...Read More...   https://www.tvfanatic.com/2018/02/absentia-season-1-episode-10-review-original-sin/

Absentia Season 1 Episode 7 Review: A & B

Jack Byrne proved me wrong on Absentia Season 1 Episode 7 . By the end of Absentia Season 1 Episode 6 , I believed that Jack was irredeemable. With all of that circumstantial evidence piling up, it appeared that Jack was a drunk with a torture porn fetish who had a hand in abducting and holding his sister for six years.   ...Read More...   https://www.tvfanatic.com/2018/02/absentia-season-1-episode-7-review-a-and-b/

Absentia Season 1 Episode 8 Review: Brave Boy

Holy heck! After Absentia Season 1 Episode 8 I'm left thinking that this series may be one of the most intense thrillers I've ever seen on the small screen. Because now it's not just Emily's life on the line, but Flynn and Alice's too. And Nick's life as well, I suppose, depending where that gun shot hit him. I was a little surprised at Maura's vehemence that Emily was behind the abduction, but then again, all that Maura knows about Emily comes from Alice, and Alice certainly hasn't been Emily's biggest fan.   ...Read More...   https://www.tvfanatic.com/2018/02/absentia-season-1-episode-8-review-brave-boy/

Absentia Season 1 Episode 6 Review: Nobodys Innocent

I didn't like Jack Byrne long before Absentia Season 1 Episode 6 . He bugged me when he was quick to take the bed and allow his sister, who just left the hospital, to sleep on the couch on Absentia Season 1 Episode 1 . I recall thinking, what kind of man, brother, heck, what kind of person does that?   ...Read More...   https://www.tvfanatic.com/2018/02/absentia-season-1-episode-6-review-nobodys-innocent/

Absentia Season 1 Episode 5 Review: Dig

So does Emily Byrne have multiple personalities? Is she a serial killer who began murdering people long before she was ever abducted? Or is she merely a woman determined to prove her innocence? Those were some of the questions we were left to ponder on Absentia Season 1 Episode 5 .   ...Read More...   https://www.tvfanatic.com/2018/02/absentia-season-1-episode-5-review-dig/

Absentia Season 1 Episode 3 Review: The Emily Show

I thought my heart was going to pound right out of my chest during the last five minutes of Absentia Season 1 Episode 3 . But lets go back to the beginning. Someone stabbed Conrad Harlow to death and dumped his body in his pool. Seems appropriate for someone who most likely locked Emily in a glorified fish tank.   ...Read More... https://www.tvfanatic.com/2018/02/absentia-season-1-episode-3-review-the-emily-show/

Absentia Season 1 Episode 2 Review: Reset

The moment Kelly Price walked into the Boston PD on Absentia Season 1 Episode 2 , something seemed off. She came off as someone far too confident, and too cold, to be a random witness who just happened to have spied Emily Byrne arguing with Robert Semarov two weeks ago. Her demeanor was the biggest clue that her story wasnt real. But Detective Gibbs and members of the FBI were ready to suspect that Emily had been behind her own abduction, and Semarovs murder.   ...Read More...   https://www.tvfanatic.com/2018/02/absentia-season-1-episode-2-review-reset/

Absentia Season 1 Episode 1 Review: Comeback

FBI Special Agent Emily Byrne was abducted six years ago by a serial killer and declared dead in absentia. Whoever held her all of that time obviously provided fantastic hair conditioner because whose locks look that good after being trapped in a basement for six years? But seriously, Absentia Season 1 Episode 1 is the beginning of an intriguing mystery.   ...Read More... https://www.tvfanatic.com/2018/02/absentia-season-1-episode-1-review-comeback/
