Complications is a medical drama, but not quite. Dr Ellis does what any compassionate human being would do, especially a good doctor, which was step in in a life-threatening altercation in order to save a life (or two!). And this is where the title of the show comes into play, because, boy, does his life suffer from complications from that point forward. It is easy to yell at the screen, thinking we'd react any differently in a similar situation, but protecting his life, his family's lives, and keeping his oath to "do no harm" is really difficult when you have a gang calling the shots. I like where this has been going, and it's a fun ride so far, but I worry they can't keep up the pace for more than a few early episodes. We'll have to watch and see ...
