Recap Degrassi The Next Generation: Season 1, Episode 6 - The Mating Game

The episode opens in Ms. Kwan's English cIass. Ashley is showing Terri what she got Jimmy for their anniversary. It is a silver chain that has the letter A (for Ashley) and a J (for Jimmy). Ashley worries over whether Jimmy will like it but Terri assures her that it's perfect for him. Ashley glances at her boyfriend, who smiles back at her. Things seem perfectly blissful between Degrassi's own Romeo and Juliet... minus the double suicide attempts, of course. Ah, but English cIass is about to shake all that up. Ms. Kwan is teaching (this is school after all!) and assigns a project to help the students understand Shakespearean language. She breaks them into groups. Jimmy is chosen to play Romeo, but it's not Ashley who will be practicing all those romantic scenes with him. And it's not even Terri. Nope it's Paige, the worst person Ms. Kwan could have chosen to pair with Ashley's boyfriend. And boy is Paige smug about it. Ashley isn't thrilled to learn she's playing the nurse, especially since Paige won't stop quoting Juliet's lines and rubbing it in her face. What a perfect excuse to steal a boyfriend. After all, Ashley, it's what Paige does best. Just ask Terri. Meanwhile, J.T. and Toby are in Media Immersion talking about the impending arrival of Dr. Sally, otherwise known as the "sex lady." Sadly, she's just there to talk to the 8th graders no underclassmen allowed. J.T. is annoyed and no one puts it better than him. "It's totally unfair. I heard that she brings like props. And she gets graphic. As in, pornographic. Eighth graders get all the luck." While he sulks, Mr. Simpson calls the class to order and reminds them that they are to begin building a website on an animal of their choice. Emma decides to do hers on an endangered turtle from the South Pacific. As Mr. S talks about the project, Toby falls into a dream-like state, watching Emma. From his viewpoint, she appears to move in slow motion, tossing her pretty blonde hair and crinkling those beautiful blue eyes. Toby's got it bad for the girl. His daydream is interrupted by Sean who comes up to him to thank him for borrowing his notes. He snaps out of it, trying to hide his crush from his friends. Recap Degrassi The Next Generation: Season 1, Episode 5 - Parent's Day

JT and Toby are dreading Parent's Day but for vastly different reasons: Toby is dreading seeing his parents in the same room (apparently they always fight) and JT isn't looking forward to disclosing the "D" he received on his latest math test. They jokingly debate poisoning the water fountains with E-Coli but then reason it's probably poisoned already. A teacher overhears and assures them the water is tested regularly. Emma is annoyed in homeroom when the morning announcements feature News About Kids (NAK), a morning program that uses product placement to an irritating degree. But Emma believes that school should be a commercial free zone and not a place to recruit future consumers. She also takes objection to the subject matter. This week it's an editorial piece about "squeegee kids" - in other words, the teenagers that attempt to extort money from people by squeegee-ing their windshields without asking. NAK makes it clear that they think this money is used to purchase tattoos or drugs. Idealistic Emma is furious that they stereotype these teenagers, claiming that they are poor and are just trying to make a living. Meanwhile, Ashley is staring at herself in the bathroom mirror as Paige and Terri come in. Paige rolls her eyes when she sees Ashley's morose expression and says, "Every time NAK claims your airspace, you go all manic-depressive." Ashley defends herself, pointing to an imaginary zit as evidence of why she's examining herself in the mirror. But Terri tells her it's just a pore and that Paige has a point: she doesn't like it when she doesn't get to give the morning announcements. And everyone likes her better than those lame NAK kids, so what's her problem? Terri tells her she should get an agent... after all, their friend Heather has one, why couldn't Ashley get one, too? She reminds her that Toby's mom is a casting agent, and Ashley's good looks combined with her on-air experience make her a shoe-in to get signed. The two girls leave the bathroom chattering excitedly while Paige stays behind to wash her face, a look for unhappiness spreading across her face. Jealousy rears it's ugly head - again. Outside the school, Toby is trying to get J.T. to help him come up with a plan to keep his parents from reuniting at Parent's Night. Ashley sees them and bounces up to her pseudo step-brother, asking him if it's true his mom is an agent. Toby is surprised by the question but confirms that it's true. Ashley is happy to learn that his mother is definitely coming to Parent's Night, much to the confusion of the boys. To Read More Click Here If You Missed This Episode Watch It Here Online Now

Recap Degrassi The Next Generation: Season 1, Episode 4 - Eye Of The Beholder

Terri's sure that no guy will ever want her and she wants to skip the school dance. Terri's father encourages her to go but she says no guy wants to dance with a fat pig like her. Later at school she tells her friends that her father is over protective and won't let her go. They don't seem convinced. But when Spinner expresses interest in her, Ashley begs her to let her give her a makeover for the dance. Terri finally agrees, and actually seems excited at the prospect. A jealous Paige wants to help too, though her motives are less than altruistic. Paige secretly wants Spinner for herself and plays on Terri's insecurities - ultimately getting Terri drunk and into some sexy but unflattering clothing. Unfortunately, Ashley went ahead to the dance to do her presidential ticket collecting duties and isn't there to stop Paige from ruining Terri's night. At the dance, Terri is visibly drunk. Ashley protects Terri from being seen by the school principal but she is unable to shield her from Spinner's questioning gaze. She does at least fix Terri's clothes so they aren't so revealing. Terri and Spinner share a dance but Terri's drunken state ruins the entire event and Terri ends up crying in the bathroom. Paige seizes the opportunity to slip into Spinner's arms, effectively stealing him right out from under Terri's nose. Emma runs into Sean at the dance and asks him if he'd like to dance. He says yes, and leads her to the dance floor hand in hand. At school the next day Terri and Spinner exchange an awkward greeting, while a territorial Paige stands nearby, making her claim on Spinner known to Terri who is dismayed by the entire situation. Ashley offers a comforting presence but it's clear that the dream of a Spinner/Terry romance is over. Toby and JT pass on the dance in favor of sneaking a glimpse of some Internet porn. Unfortunately, JT's parents catch them at it. Later, we discover that they forced the two boys two look at porn with them... an embarassment the two boys won't be getting over any time soon. Emma and Manny are amused and disgusted by the story, saying "Losers!" in unison. Source Here If You Missed This Episode Watch It Here Online Now
