Detectorists Reviews & Ratings

30 minutes

Detectorists follows the relationship between two friends who share a passion for metal detecting. When Andy and Lance are together, they're like an old married couple. They gripe at each other, but there is a true bond underneath. Each has their own slightly dysfunctional lives but together they dream of finding a priceless Saxon hoard that will cement their place in detecting history. Helping them along the way is a delightfully quirky crowd of characters who are drawn to this all-absorbing hobby.

This show is absolutely adorable. The flow of it is perfect. Mackenzie Crook needs to write more shows, he's a brilliant writer (as well as actor). The lines are delivered with impeccable timing, the story-lines are well thought out and rarely dull. I recommend this to anyone that wants to watch a nice paced, cute, comedy. You won't be disappointed.

I absolutely love this show. Written, directed by and starring Mackenzie Crook. Perfectly written, superbly acted and all round winner of best new British Comedy in the last 5 years (in my opinion). The characters are so likable that you can't help but want more. Sad that it had to finish.

A lovely show that occassionally captures a sense of wonder for what treasured past awaits to be found, and a sense of being in the great outdoors that is a hard sensation to capture in a TV show. The two guys are sensational actors and the characters are interesting though both somewhat unlikeable for different reasons. They both play below average guys that have struggled in the world, and at least partially mature into full men due to their hobby. The seasons more or less climax on treasure being found, and this third season has done a beautiful job leading up to this from the first episode. The flashback was done extremely well. The writing is good, though the day to day life of the two guys is tedious at times... hence, somewhat unlikeable. Much like searching for buried treasure, the gems within the show make it more than worth the boring parts. Its very British I should think.

The show ended on a high note that was very satisfying. Wish more shows planned their endings so well.

Strange little show that really does not go anywhere, how ever you just feel the need to watch it again.
It´s just nice and peaceful, pretty scenery, down to earth characters.
