For the first time in years, "The Breakdown" has been nominated for an American Journalism Award. Katie (Briga Heelan) is looking forward to spending the night as a peer with the very reporters she has admired her whole life. Fearing her mother will ruin it, Katie tries to stop Carol (Andrea Martin) from attending but is unsuccessful when Carol secures a position as a seat-filler. Katie is stuck babysitting her mom all night but gets distracted by Jeremy (guest star Reid Scott), a handsome New York Times reporter who looks down on cable news. Chuck (John Michael Higgins) is excited to reunite with all of his old anchormen friends, especially Len Archer.

The bad news: this is not (yet) a 30 Rock- or Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt-level joke monster. The good news: the foundation is definitely there. The cast is excellent. But the mom-as-intern premise doesn't have very strong legs. And the comedy, while often charming and cute, lacks the bite of Tina Fey and Robert Carlock's other shows. It's worth remembering, however, that Season 1 of 30 Rock started a little slow, but gradually found its sweet spot.

Nope nope nope. Tina Fey may be producer, but she had no hands in making this show. The script is terrible. Because it isn't funny. It's not even endearing.. it just ... pointless and dumb. I will say that the lead actress is very pretty -- but, you can just look at a picture of her and save yourself the pain of this show :\
