'Hellcats' star heads to 'Necessary Roughness': Can Robbie Jones share the spotlight with TK?

We've seen Robbie Jones as a basketball star on "One Tree Hill" and a cheerleader on "Hellcats." Now, sources confirm to Zap2it exclusively that he's booked an arc on USA's "Necessary Roughness" -- and, just to keep up with the athletic theme he's got going on, he'll be playing a wide receiver. When the New York Hawks acquire Joe "Toes" Kittredge (Jones), he quickly becomes the new face of the team -- much to TK's (Mehcad Brooks) dismay. Let's just say he's not particularly thrilled about sharing the spotlight with "Toes." Expect to see Jones in three episodes of "Necessary Roughness." The show is currently airing the first part of Season 2 on USA on Wednesdays at 10 p.m. through August 29. Jones' arc will air when Season 2 returns with more episodes in the winter of 2013. Jones isn't the first "Hellcats" star to need some counseling from Dani (Callie Thorne) -- his romantic... //

'Hellcats' canceled, 'Nikita' Season 2 picked up by The CW

We've got good news, and we've got bad news. The bad news is that The CW's freshman series "Hellcats" has been canceled, as first reported by Deadline. The cheerleading drama, executive produced by "Smallville" star Tom Welling and Kevin Murphy and led by former Disney stars Ashley Tisdale and Aly Michalka was one of Zap2it's early favorites in the 2010-2011 season.Unfortunately, the series floundered undeniably in its back nine episodes, relying heavily on gimmicks (like Zombies and musical numbers) and stunt casting (A.J. Michalka and Ciara) and shelving the intriguing love triangle that was the heart of the initial episodes. With this cancellation, The CW makes room for three new dramas - "The Ringer," "Secret Circle," and "Hart of Dixie" - and (here's the good news) can hang onto "Nikita," its only other drama from the 2010-2011 season. "Nikita's" first season ended on May 12 on a creative high, launching a bold storyline that will... //
