How to Get Away With Murder Recap: Be As Punishing As Possible

Last week, How to Get Away With Murder set up major endgame, the literal murder mentioned in the title, which is told in flashbacks (and thus, well dub it dj vu!). Alongside that, the show laid out a breakneck procedural within a thriller kind of case-by-case vibe, slashing together lessons and legwork and court time to create a comprehensive case. One thing though: While Annalise is meant to be the central, formidable focus, this is feeling very ensemble at the moment. Lets step that up, please. I want Viola Davis to OWN this.   Read More... //www.vulture.com/2014/10/how-get-away-with-murder-s1e2.html

How To Get Away With Murder Season 1 Review “It’s All Her Fault”

“It’s All Her Fault” took everything I liked about the pilot of  How To Get Away With Murder and improved on it. Even better, the complaints I had last week were attended to. Maybe it’s because I’ve seen one episode now, but the second outing felt as if the frenzy was toned done a bit. People still talked a mile a minute, but I understood what they said. The flash forwards came across less frantic. I will credit that to the fact that we were only privy to Wes’ view of those this time. It worked better that way and hopefully the future episodes will continue that format. The case of the week was also more compelling with Steven Weber as the center (and his Max St. Vincent was daffy). And Viola Davis was allowed to play more as Annalise. Who wouldn’t be freaking out at the thought that a spouse could have committed murder? Annalise Keating will always get her shit done, but she has cracks in her foundation as anyone should. The question is, how long before they’re exposed to everyone else (besides Nate, and to an extent, Wes). Read More... //www.tvequals.com/2014/10/03/get-away-murder-season-1-review-fault/

How to Get Away With Murder Series Premiere Recap: Murder, She Wrought

Already one of the most hotly anticipated shows this season, ABCs How to Get Away With Murder got a big-time PR boost whenNew York Times TV critic Alessandra Stanley wrote an ass-backwards critique that dubbed one Shonda Rhimes and the power-suited heroines wrought in her own image an angry black woman. Oopsie. Not a smart statement on so many levels. While Stanley's purpose was to praise Rhimes for subverting stereotypes, instead, she managed to reinforce them, coming off as racist and research-inept. And in the end, it was a review that rarely talked around the show in question, which is ridiculous. Because, as the season premiere proves, this will definitely be a show that has people talking.   Read More... //www.vulture.com/2014/09/how-to-get-away-with-murder-series-premiere-recap.html
