'Ironside' Actor Don Mitchell Dies at 70

He assisted Raymond Burr on the 1970s NBC series and starred in the blaxploitation film "Scream Blacula Scream." Don Mitchell , the aide to the wheelchair-bound Raymond Burr on the 1970s NBC police series Ironside , died Sunday in Encino of natural causes. He was 70. Mitchell played Mark Sanger, an ex-con who is persuaded by Robert T. Ironside to become his driver and assistant after the San Francisco chief of detectives is paralyzed from the waist down by a sniper's bullet.  Read More...   //

TV ratings: 'Toy Story of Terror' scores for ABC Wednesday, ALCS solid for FOX

Fast National ratings for Wednesday, Oct. 16, 2013Pixar's first TV special, "Toy Story of Terror," drew pretty strong ratings for ABC Wednesday, helping the network tie for the lead among adults 18-49 in primetime. ABC shared the top spot with FOX, whose coverage of the American League Championship Series continued to bring in solid numbers, and CBS.It was a decent night across the board for the broadcast networks as a number of shows were up a little from their ratings last week. "Arrow," "Modern Family," "Law & Order: SVU" and "Criminal Minds" all rose. The CW's "Tomorrow People" dipped slightly in viewers but improved among the 18- to 34-year-old viewers the network targets.CBS led the night in viewers with 10.1 million and a 6.3 rating/10 share in households. FOX (8.1 million, 5.1/8) finished second, pending adjustments for its live telecast. ABC took third with 7.5 million viewers and a 4.5/7. NBC (5.9 million, 3.8/6) came... //

NBC has dropped the ax on two of their freshman series today. After just three episodes, NBC is dropping their  Ironside  remake starring Blair Underwood. 'Ironside' series premiere: Will you keep watching Blair Underwood's return to TV?

Blair Underwood's new NBC series "Ironside" has finally premiered Wednesday night (Oct. 2). The cop drama follows the titular character, Detective Robert Ironside, as he continues to work for the police after a traumatic shooting that left him in a wheelchair. Ironside constantly bucks authority and fights crime his own way, and in the pilot he ultimately chooses to investigate a case to punish those responsible for a woman's suicide despite the fact he had realized her death wasn't a murder. It's Ironside himself who is the most interesting part of the show's pilot. It's eventually revealed that his former partner Gary Stanton (Brent Sexton) who hit Ironside with friendly fire and left him injured. Though it hasn't kept Ironside from the field, it's clear that he's dealing with some demons from that accident. Maybe that is what caused him to take such a dark turn and walk the line between being a risk-taking detective... //
