Daredevil Recap: Men Like Us

Sometimes, the problem with Netflix shows is the slow burn in the beginning. Because their shows are made for binge-watching, they dont have to give everything away in the first episode. But because of that, you can actually feel the show is holding back, which can be frustrating if you dont have 13 uninterrupted hours to spend on it. But episode six is what that slow burn was for, and its so far the best episode of the series, if only because its firing on all cylinders. All our characters are affected by the blast, and so this episode unites them and gives the episode a cohesion missing from previous episodes.   Read More... //www.vulture.com/2015/04/daredevil-recap-season-1-episode-6.html

Daredevil Review: Daddy Issues

The harsh reality is superhero (or comic book) shows and Emmy award are never mentioned in the same breath by TV industry folks. They simply don't take this genre seriously due to silly preconceptions. I'm hoping that changes, because Daredevil Season 1 Episode 7 and Daredevil Season 1 Episode 8 - specifically - should not be judged as your typical "genre" show. Rather, this is a powerful drama with outstanding actors. Does Netflix have another House of Cards on its hands here? At the very least, Vincent D'Onofrio deserves some recognition.   Read More... //www.tvfanatic.com/2015/04/daredevil-review-daddy-issues/

Daredevil Review: The Russians Went Boom

Matt saved Vladimir's life, and was rewarded with Owlsley's name. Elsewhere, our other heroes continued to gather information on Wilson Fisk. However, it was Fisk that came out ahead in Daredevil Season 1 Episode 5 and Daredevil Season 1 Episode 6 as his plans to take control of Hell's Kitchen began to take shape. He's got the police, judges and others in his pocket. The Russians have been eliminated, so it's only a matter of time before Gao, Nobu and Leland go as well.   Read More... //www.tvfanatic.com/2015/04/daredevil-review-the-russians-went-boom/

Daredevil Recap: A Masked Idiot

In this episode, we learn a bit more about our villains, including how terrible they are on dates. Ever wondered about Voldemorts flirting style? ME EITHER. But we pick up the thread from last episode, with Wilson Fisk asking out the art-gallery owner, Vanessa, on a date. Unlike other Marvel villains, like Loki or Killian or Pearce, Wilson Fisk may be yet another white guy, but he has exactly no chill. While Id be morbidly interested in the aforementioned other three going on dates and I know Tumblr agrees with me on the first one Wilson Fisk is painfully awkward, and not in a way thats at all fun to watch. I dont understand what Vanessa sees in him, mostly because he talks about himself the whole date, picks a generic bougie restaurant, and speaks in mysterious banalities. Im hoping Vanessa has a dark, mean heart hidden under all that chicness, and can tell Fisks matches hers. While Im not really interested in a Godfather first marriage situation especially since Vanessa already seems to be able to tell that Fisk is into something shadier than the Amazon rain forest Im all for watching murderous couples.  Read More... //www.vulture.com/2015/04/daredevil-recap-season-1-episode-4.html

Daredevil Recap: A Life in Search of Power

This episode we get to see how Wilson Fisks vast network works, and how deep it goes.   Wesley meets Vladimir, who is leaving Anatoly angry messages. Wesley feigns ignorance at Anatolys disappearance, suggesting that hes off celebrating because they agreed upon a deal. But then they find Anatolys body just his body, it seems and Vladimir sobs over it before finding a black mask and figuring that the man in the mask is sending a message. Meanwhile, Leland, Madame Gao, and Nobu are hanging out at a car wash, while they stare at the blood draining off the side of the car in trepidation. Wesley and Wilson come together, and Wilson explains he killed Anatoly and will be wiping the Russians off the map. The others protest, but hell be taking over and splitting the shares between them. Then he walks Madame Gao to her car, which she of course realizes means he wants something.  Read More... //www.vulture.com/2015/04/daredevil-recap-season-1-episode-5.html

Daredevil Recap: Take It On Faith

One great relief about Netflix dramas is that everything happens so fast. After last episodes chilling ending, weve already skipped ahead to Matts failure to save the boy. Specifically, we see a teenager freaking out while staring into a dumpster, where Matt is bloodied up and gasping. The kid runs off and returns with Rosario Dawson, who drags the body home with her.   Matt finds out his savior with the ridiculous cheekbones is named Claire. He stays as shady as he can with a woman who has seen his face (couldnt she take a picture and Google Image search it?). At least, until he starts having an attack because theres air stuck in his chest, so Claire stabs him in the chest with a metaphor I mean, to relieve the pressure.   Read More... //www.vulture.com/2015/04/daredevil-recap-season-1-episode-2.html
