Terry Kinney still hopes people find 'NYC 22'

Zap2it: You're well known from your TV work on "Oz" and other shows, but as one of the founders of Chicago's Steppenwolf Theatre, what are some of your goals for the stage?Terry Kinney: I would love to play Cyrano. Maybe it will happen, maybe not, onstage. There are plays I am thinking about. I also have Steppenwolf.Zap2it: You started that with Gary Sinise and Jeff Perry. Are you still close friends?Terry Kinney: Gary is still my best friend. People forget the power he has onstage as an actor, the power he has as a director. If his show ("CSI:NY") ever ends, I would do a play with Gary.Zap2it: What is your aim for "NYC 22?"Terry Kinney: I hope people find it. We are doing an exciting political drama, full of nuanced characters who are putting their lives on the line every day. I don't think of it so much as a show but more as... //

'Rookie Blue's' Missy Peregrym on 'NYC 22': 'Definitely similarities'

"I'm not interested in slamming that show," says ABC "Rookie Blue" regular Missy Peregrym, though she allows CBS' new Sunday police drama "NYC 22" feels familiar. "I wanted to see what it was, and there were definitely similarities," the actress tells Zap2it. "Leelee Sobieski reminded me of Charlotte (Sullivan, alias Gail Peck on 'Rookie Blue'); Sanchez (played by Judy Marte) kind of reminded me of Andy, except she's a bit harder; and then, there's the Ben Bass kind of character." Bass plays Sam Swarek -- "Rookie" love interest of Peregrym's Andy McNally -- on the Canadian-made show set for its Season 3 launch Thursday, May 24, on ABC."At the end of the day, it's really, really difficult to make a brand-new show," reasons Peregrym, "to write a pilot where you have to introduce characters and everyone has to kind of be dynamic and have something different for themselves. TV ratings: 'NYC 22' has a so-so premiere as CBS wins a quiet Sunday

Fast National ratings for Sunday, April 15, 2012The series premiere of "NYC 22" pulled in a decent number of viewers for CBS Sunday, but its adults 18-49 rating (1.5) was pretty soft and well below what "CSI: Miami" averaged in the same timeslot earlier in the season. On the upside for the new show -- kind of, anyway -- is the fact that nothing on broadcast TV Sunday drew all that well among the coveted 18-49 demographic. None of the four networks even broke the 2.0 mark in primetime.CBS led the night's overall race with 9.7 million viewers and a 6.2 rating/10 share in households. NBC (6.5 million, 4.2/7) came in second. ABC scored 4.8 million viewers and a 3.0/5 to finish third, beating out FOX (3.8 million, 2.2/4).CBS also topped the 18-49 demo, albeit with just a 1.8 rating. FOX (1.7) and NBC (1.6) were close behind, and ABC brought up the rear with... //

'NYC 22' Premiere: Adam Goldberg And Leelee Sobieski Suit Up

There was nothing groundbreaking about the premiere of " NYC 22 " (Sun., 10 p.m. ET on CBS), but in that it fit very well into CBS's current lineup of crime procedurals. As with those other shows, it all comes down to the characters, and there are certainly a fun variety of them. Like " Rookie Blue ," "NYC 22" follows a group of new police officers fresh from the academy as they start their new jobs on the streets, and it stars a pretty young woman -- this time Leelee Sobieski . In New York, though, the streets are meaner, and their coworkers may well be meaner as well. By the end of this hour, two officers found themselves in a hostage situation with a gunman, while the rest of them found themselves in a gang battle, of sorts. Harper is like a veteran rookie, played by Adam Goldberg , who joined the force after getting let go from a long career at a local newspaper. He used his own experience to help talk the man down enough that they were able to regain control of the situation, with some help from his wife. For all their hard work in both situations, the officers got yelled at for never using their radios to call for backup. The new drama "NYC 22" continues Sundays at 10 p.m. ET on CBS. TV Replay scours the vast television landscape to find the most interesting, amusing, and, on a good day, amazing moments, and delivers them right to your browser. //
