Review of Olive Kitteridge

30 minutes

"Olive Kitteridge" (2008) is a novel by American author Elizabeth Strout. HBO is producing a mini-series based on the novel, that will feature Frances McDormand in the title role and is slated to air in November 2014. The four-part drama tells the poignantly sweet, acerbically funny and devastatingly tragic story of a seemingly placid New England town wrought with illicit affairs, crime and tragedy, told through the lens of Olive, whose wicked wit and harsh demeanor mask a warm but troubled heart and staunch moral center. Richard Jenkins portrays Olive's husband, Henry.

The show is as good as the book! Well actually, I read the book because I loved the show. I would recommend anyone who has the patience for slow drama to watch it. The actors have done a fabulous job! I could also be biased towards the show since I am basically Olive (in 20 years); but it is a simple and well told story.
