Review of Olive Kitteridge

30 minutes

"Olive Kitteridge" (2008) is a novel by American author Elizabeth Strout. HBO is producing a mini-series based on the novel, that will feature Frances McDormand in the title role and is slated to air in November 2014. The four-part drama tells the poignantly sweet, acerbically funny and devastatingly tragic story of a seemingly placid New England town wrought with illicit affairs, crime and tragedy, told through the lens of Olive, whose wicked wit and harsh demeanor mask a warm but troubled heart and staunch moral center. Richard Jenkins portrays Olive's husband, Henry.

I wasn't expecting much from this and oh boy was I blown away. The acting was fantastic; Frances McDorman amazes with the portrayal of a very complex woman that even though she could pass as unlikable you end up caring for her.
