Rizzoli & Isles Season 6 Episode 8 Review: Nice to Meet You, Dr. Isles

Everyone has that one family member that drives them crazy. For Frankie and Jane, it's Angela. That's a given after all, it's part of the premise of Rizzoli & Isles. But in Rizzoli & Isles Season 6 Episode 8 , the shoe's on the other foot as Maura struggles to deal with an estranged father who also happens to be a murder suspect.   Read More... //

Rizzoli & Isles Season 6 Episode 7 Review: A Bad Seed Grows

Teenage tragedies are one of the oldest type of stories, dating back to Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet. In modern times, these stories often include a teenage psychopath. The sheer number of young psychopaths featured on crime dramas makes it hard to do this kind of story well. Rizzoli & Isles Season 6 Episode 7 gets it right... sort of. "A Bad Seed Grows" has the creepiness factor down as well as the reactions of good people like Jane to sheer insanity. While this story is far from original, it's entertaining. The weirdness of the victim's murder, the near-deserted police parking lot where a teenage killer can threaten police officers and parents from his bicycle and the obvious fear on his mother's face all contributed to the atmosphere.   Read More... //

Rizzoli & Isles Season 6 Episode 6 Review: Face Value

We all find ways to compensate for our shortcomings. In Rizzoli & Isles Season 6 Episode 6 . material witness Elliot Dutton uses his other senses to his advantage since he can't recognize faces. Maura uses a hidden camera to compensate for her overly trusting nature. And Frankie... well, Frankie needs to learn when not to answer his phone. Kudos to Rizzoli & Isles for taking a little-known condition and making it interesting without creating a ridiculous character or scenario. I really enjoyed watching the detectives struggle to deal with a witness who couldn't tell them what or more precisely, who he had seen.   Read More... //

Rizzoli & Isles Season 6 Episode 5 Review: Misconduct Game

First Frost, now Suzie. Rizzoli & Isles has had its share of deaths. While Frost died in a tragic, off-screen car accident, Suzie was murdered by a wealthy politician who dreamed of becoming governor. Rizzoli & Isles Season 6 Episode 5 was a tearjerker, for viewers as well as for Jane, Maura and Frankie. Throughout the hour, the characters struggled with grief and doubt. Did you?   Read More... //

Rizzoli & Isles Season 6 Episode 4 Review: Imitation Game

Family members can really be a pain in the butt, especially if their last name is Rizzoli. Whether they're insisting you fix plumbing that's older than you are or putting their nose into your love life, they can ruin your day like nobody else. That's what Angela and Frankie discover the hard way in Rizzoli & Isles Season 6 Episode 4 . Oh yeah, and there's an interesting case, too.   Read More... //

Rizzoli & Isles Season 6 Episode 3 Recap: ‘Deadly Harvest’

The latest episode of "Rizzoli & Isles" kicks off with a woman cleaning the room when she tries to run to the door and escape from the man in the chair. The scene later on shows the woman’s body hung over the ceiling. Jane starts looking for Angela and admits missing her. Maura suggests having a girls’ night. Angela comes home and refuses their offer. She tells them she’s taking a night class on French cuisine but she can’t mention a proper French meal. Their phones ring. READ MORE...

Rizzoli & Isles Season 6 Episode 3 Review: Deadly Harvest

Getting older can be hard for the whole family to deal with. In its usual light-hearted manner, Rizzoli & Isles Season 6 Episode 3 tackled Angela and Jane's complex feelings about their changing relationship. Meanwhile, Jane and Maura solved yet another quirky case, this one involving extra bodies at a body farm. Angela's escapades are hit-or-miss as far as being worthwhile subplots. In Rizzoli & Isles Season 6 Episode 1 , a seemingly inane plot about an ugly chair became a vehicle for exploring Jane and Frankie's changing relationship. Fortunately, Angela's secret ice skating lessons were similarly heartwarming instead of being a waste of time. Angela and Jane skated around the real issue while arguing about whether Angela should continue.   Read More... //

Rizzoli & Isles Season 6 Episode 2 Review: Bassholes

Love is a many splendored thing, or so the sonnet goes. After watching Rizzoli & Isles Season 6 Episode 2 , it seems that love can also be found in the strangest places. And, of course, unrequited love makes people do bizarre things, like murder their lovers. The case of the week gave Jane and Maura the chance to showcase their usual quirkiness. But even though on the surface it seemed like a weird case about a dead bass fisherman, it actually was a love story. I didn't realize it when we first met the victim's wife, Carla, though I should have. Her reaction to being asked if her husband had been more than friends with another woman gave it away.   Read More...   //

Rizzoli & Isles Season 6, Episode 1: The Platform

I'm delighted that Rizzoli & Isles kicked off Rizzoli & Isles Season 6 with a Frankie centered episode. Frankie's relationships with both Jane and Maura have always been one of my favorite parts of the show, and seeing him in a serious, dramatic conflict added layers of complexity that I didn't expect, especially when it started off with a typical Angela sideline about giving Frankie a free chair that everyone else thought was ugly. The chair, and Frankie's move into his own apartment, seemed like a set-up for a season-long arc about Jane dealing with changes in her life, especially in her relationship with her brother. A lot of time was devoted to Frankie wanting to keep his new apartment secret until he was ready, which Jane didn't appreciate. READ MORE...
