The Ambition Of Oda Nobuna Episode #09 Anime Review

With a good mixture of seriousness and simple fun in the previous episode, especially with the whole competition that unfolded, The Ambition of Oda Nobuna has a feeling of getting back to the core story a bit here with a fair bit more seriousness to it. Not that it excludes lightness or levity completely as there’s some smart humor in the opening segment that shows the way the characters all interact with each other. Nobuna’s group certainly has a ragtag feel about it a lot of the time and that allows for a bit more bluntness from some, herself included. Most of her those that are directly sworn and loyal to her tend to be more serious though and that helps to balance things out. Especially in the face of changes that are happening around the country as Takeda and Useugi’s forces have come together now, something that did not happen in the history that Sagara knows. The Ambition Of Oda Nobuna Episode #08 Anime Review

The series takes a bit of an odd turn this time around as it shifts to the city of Sakai where Nobuna and Sagara meet up with Soukyuu. As Sagara says to Nobuna at one point, he’s a regular character in the Ambition game that he played who shows up when the seasons change to sell things. With the pair needing to get 120,000 kan, they have a lot of work to do in order to acquire it all. And it’s not something that Soukyuu can just do himself and even then while he has influence there’s also the fact that he’s a merchant and has many competitors. While Nobuna’s overall goal is noble to try and unify the country, there’s still many that don’t grasp her reasons why or even believe them. And Sakai is a difficult place for it as well with it being a rich trading area. Read More... //www.fandompost.com/2012/08/27/the-ambition-of-oda-nobuna-episode-08-anime-review/

The Ambition Of Oda Nobuna Episode #07 Anime Review

One of the things I do like when it’s explored with time travel shows, especially ones to alternate timelines like this, is when they start to show how things are changing. It puts the lead in a difficult position because he knew what was going to happen but now things shift, making them less useful. For Sagara, this is becoming more and more of a problem since events are not flowing in the way he knew them to based on his history. There’s still a lot that can be done though as he knows some of the basic motivations that are behind these historical figures that can still factor into things, but his direct approach isn’t what it was anymore. And he’s starting to realize it. Read More... //www.fandompost.com/2012/08/22/the-ambition-of-oda-nobuna-episode-07-anime-review/

The Ambition Of Oda Nobuna Episode #06 Anime Review

With the slow but steady progress that Nobuna is making, some of the challenges she has to face as time goes on get more and more interesting. Enter the case of this episode where there’s a need to further cement her standing and position in Sunomata, but it’s close to another castle and any attempt to build something there would draw down that army on them in quick fashion. It’s risky and dangerous but it’s something that Nobuna knows that needs to be done. Where the trick comes is in how to do it and survive. The Ambition Of Oda Nobuna Episode #05 Anime Review

With things now settled in dealing with Imagawa, there’s not exactly quiet but at least a little down time for the troops before things advance again. We got to see some good movements in the last couple of episodes and a growing understanding of what Kinoshita is capable of, which is more than just cowering as he got right into the thick of things. With some usual hesitancy found in characters in these situations, it’s been enjoyable seeing him taking a firm position in things, worrying somewhat about changing things too much, and just getting involved more than most ever do. And it’s helping to cement things between him and Nobuna just a bit more each time, as much as she may hate to believe so. The Ambition Of Oda Nobuna Episode #04 Anime Review

With the way events have unfolded, it’s now in a situation where Oda’s facing the biggest fight yet and one that, in Kinoshita’s memory, has some of the biggest impact. He’s worked well in showing her the way to things and giving her the feeling that she’s not crazy with how she views the world at large. Kinoshita’s place in things has been amusing here, but it’s also been somewhat understated as they haven’t overplayed him being from the future in another timeline. There’s been some gags and definitely confidence on his part, but that’s not been detrimental. Read More... //www.fandompost.com/2012/07/30/the-ambition-of-oda-nobuna-episode-04-anime-review/

The Ambition Of Oda Nobuna Episode #03 Anime Review

With the relationship between Kinoshita and Nobuna a little more fleshed out at this point now that she’s realized that he’s taking her seriously with some of her ideas that have not gone over well with others, they still have their spats and problems since she tends to be pretty emotional. The lands continue to be in a huge state of turmoil as it poens with the Saitou Dousan family head that has now had his sons turn against him in their own quest for power, which causes a big ripple effect on other lords and rulers around the surrounding lands. For Nobuna, it’s something that she has to take seriously because it can affect her directly in a more immediate sense but also because it affects her long term goals of trying to solidify things before the horde of foreign invaders come to their shores and are able to sweep through them with ease. The Ambition Of Oda Nobuna Episode #02 Anime Review

With the opening episode of the series, the Ambition of Oda Nobuna didn’t exactly wow me, but it did some fun things with both of its lead characters, but especially with Kinoshita. I really liked the approach of the guy thrown back in time not being a simpering wimp that’s constantly abused by Nobuna. She certainly does have her impact on him and does her best to put him in his place, but he’s not a meager man before her. She does what she can to torment and humiliate him for the pleasure of all, but he also pushes back, which is a real rarity when you get down to it. Seeing how the two play off of each other and how some of the others do what they can to try and get him to ease up a bit since his life could be in danger gives it a different feeling. The Ambition Of Oda Nobuna Episode #01 Anime Review

Based on the light novel series Oda Nobuna no Yabout by Kasuga Mikage and Miyama-Zero, which just had its seventh volume come out last fall, The Ambition of Oda Nobuna is the latest to come from Studio Gokumi and Madhouse. Series involving the Sengoku period are abound every year it seems as there’s always some sort of interest in them, especially when cute girls are involved. Some of them tweak the format well as they go along, such as the Sengoku Collection series which I find to be a delight, while others are pretty by the numbers like Battle Girls – Time Paradox, which I enjoyed as well. For the Ambition of Oda Nobuna, we get something that’s definitely different. Read More... //www.fandompost.com/2012/07/10/the-ambition-of-oda-nobuna-episode-01-anime-review/
