Wayward Pines Reviews & Ratings

60 minutes

Imagine the perfect American town... beautiful homes, manicured lawns, children playing safely in the streets. Now imagine never being able to leave. You have no communication with the outside world. You think you’re going insane. You must be in Wayward Pines. Based on the best-selling novel “Pines” by Blake Crouch, and brought to life as a 10-episode mini series by suspenseful storyteller M. Night Shyamalan (“The Sixth Sense,” “Signs”), WAYWARD PINES is the intense new mind-bending event thriller evocative of the classic cult hit “Twin Peaks.”

Well to be completely honest I watched the first season because the creepy, bizarre, mystery behind the town etc. made me curious. After the Abbie business was explained, I was less satisfied with the overall story. ( I won't say too much about that because I don't want to spoil anything for the new viewers.} Were it not for Matt Dillion being a lead character I would have probably stopped watching after that revelation, but I stuck with it to end of first season. Then when I heard the show was renewed for another season, I was baffled. I really thought it felt complete at end of season one. Not sure I will get through season two. I don't feel particularly invested in the characters because they seem so weird, but part of me really wants the story to get better. I just can't imagine how it can.

So far I can't tell if I am enjoying the series or not but I am definitely enthralled. The plot has clearly been thought out thoroughly so that the audience can relate to the main character, Ethan Burke, and unravel the story alongside him.

It is worth watching, I am reading the book at the same time, only reading up to each episode each week and I can safely say that so far, it is sticking true to the source.

Follows a federal secret service agent, (Ethan), into a town that has secrets left, right and center with mystery around every corner that slowly sends Ethan into questioning his own sanity. The series pilot seems to be following in the footsteps to the film/game franchises.. "Silent Hill" and "Alone in the Dark", BUT without all the monsters, but WHO'S to say those won't happen in this series.

The pilot episode starts a little weird but then starts to unfold within 20 mins of the episode that kept me thinking.. "OKAY! what the hell's going on in this town?" and now I can't wait for the next episode because I want to see if the series is going to go down the "Silent Hill" path or "Alone In The Dark" path.. either way, it looks like i'll be following this show to it's completion. Seems I was wrong on both accounts :( oh well, GREAT time travel series though, i just HOPE they give it a season 3 to finish off the story of all the books.

Season 1: 7.5/10
Season 2: 8.5/10

Very the prisoneresque. I liked it though. Will be interesting to see what happens, hopefully it will continue to be intriguing :)An update, I nearly gave up after episode 2, but decided to give episode 3 a go. By the time I watched episode 3, 4 and 5, I was totally hooked. Primarily because there are a few ways this could go, and I will be interested to see how they interplay the possibilities. Think I will watch it again from the start to see if I missed anything, I think I probably did. Definitely one to watch :)

ok I think I'm hooked! It's dark and suspenseful, leaving you guessing as to what is going on? The drip, drip of info is just right to keep you tuned in. I'm three episodes in, and wondering what's next?

So glad there will be a second season. Really loved this show.

However, the 2nd season was a disappointment. Didn't watch it past the 2nd show.

In season three, I want it to be based in the future, where the humans have reawakened.

However, I want the Abbies to be evolved. Like with Humans evolving from Caveman,. Perhaps they evolve due to Wayward pines, or the people left behind at wayward I dont know. But it should show 'Mutants' in the future, where humans and Abbies have bred together, causing a mutation.

This is an excellent show though. I must admit, Season two let me down, as Season one, was amazing. Season one kept me on my toes.

Season one full of twists and unanswered questions, really good. Season two, not as good but still interesting

I'm reading Blake Crouch's books so am a bit unsure as to whether I should watch this or not. Perhaps once I've finished the novels...

So. I watched the Pilot and WOW, it's so good and faithful, so far, to the novels. I don't want to watch more until, as I said above, I've finished them so this will have to wait, aargh!
